HDC IPARK Mall Won the Environment Minister’s Award for Environment-Friendly Construction Industry


 

​ HDC IPARK Mall (CEO IK Hoon Choi) received the Environment Minister’s Award at the “2019 Environment-Friendly Construction Industry Awards” Ceremony on July 10. The “2019 Environment-Friendly Construction Industry Awards is hosted by the JungAng Ilbo, the JongAng Ilbo Economist, and the JungAng Ilbo Plus and sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Environment, JTBC, and JungAng SUNDAY. The awards are given to companies that conduct environment-friendly R & D and practice environment-friendly businesses in the fields of housing, building, energy, design, facility, civil engineering, landscaping, materials, and noise between floors.

 

 IPARK Mall, located in Yongsan Station, showed the theme of ‘Urban Nature’ through remodeling in April and introduced environment-friendly spaces where people can experience nature in the city such as 'The Garden' and 'The Terrace'. In particular, The Garden, located in the center of the 4th floor, transformed the existing theater mainly made of gray concrete, into a green space decorated with trees and grass where people can take a rest. This place has stair-shaped wooden chairs, making it a haven for visitors who need to take a break while shopping. Additionally, ‘Aqua Ring’, which emits clean artificial mist every 20 minutes to eliminate fine dust in the air, is installed here to create a pleasant environment. Various cultural events such as classical and jazz performances are frequently held every weekend to attract more visitors.

 

 

 ‘The Terrace’, a rooftop space where people can take a walk with ease, also offers to heal. People can enjoy the cool breeze whenever they feel stuffy from their indoor activities. There are trees all over ‘The Terrace’, so people you can take a rest in the shade of the trees when they feel tired from walking. At night, it becomes an observatory where people can enjoy the night view of Seoul. People can enjoy the shining night streets filled with many high-rise buildings around IPARK Mall. Various exhibitions, performances, and events are also held to add pleasure. It attracted many people’s attention by holding World Cup cheering event last year and yoga events in the downtown this year.

 

 In addition, IPARK Mall has established a futsal field on the rooftop, attracting more than 150,000 visitors a year. It is continuously growing as a multi-use shopping mall with offering a lot of attractions giving pleasure such as the CGV Yongsan IPARK Mall, the largest movie theater in South Korea, and the Shilla IPARK Duty Free shop, the best and largest downtown duty-free shop in South Korea.
